Typically, Sinfonietta performs four concerts a year. We aim to give all our members a rich musical experience throughout the academic year and hence aim for a larger number of performances. Our repertoire ranges from 20th Century Music to Christmas classics to commissioned works by university students and of course to the classical greats. Our year starts in September where we audition and begin rehearsals for our first concert. This period really bonds the orchestra in their sound and togetherness. We end the winter term off with a Christmas concert which is always good fun, playing Christmas classics like the Nutcracker Suite.
After exam season in January, we hit the road running for our Spring concert. It is for sure our stand out concert of the year! We play larger repertoire that is typically more challenging to really show off what we can do. Sinfonietta ends of the year with the Summer Concert.
